[할랄맛집]Authentic Malaysian Flavors at The Makan in Seoul , A Culinary Journey from 5-Star Expertise 더마칸

Even though it's been 10 years since I visited Malaysia, the striking image of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers always comes to mind.

Malaysia's society is a great example of harmony between 5 religions, with about 67% of the population practising Islam, followed by Buddhism, Christianity, and others.

I was really impressed by how people from different religions and cultures showed respect for each other.

One thing I needed help with was Remembering the names of Malaysian dishes was a bit tricky for me. But I can still picture their simple yet delicious meals. One dish they recommended, "Nasi Lemak," stood out. It's a mix of coconut rice, spicy sambal sauce, peanuts, fresh veggies, and sweetened anchovies all beautifully arranged side by side. This kind of food is special to Malaysia not many in Korea know about it.

Malaysian food is so good, and in Korea, people are more familiar with Thai cuisine.

If you ever find yourself in Jamsil, a lively tourist area, you'll discover a special Malaysian restaurant called The Makan. It means "The Place" in Arabic. What's unique is that the chefs there are Malaysian and they used to work at fancy 5-star hotels in Malaysia for more than 7 years. They cook your food when you order it, so it's always fresh and delicious.

Greetings! We are The Makan, a Malaysian bistro that brings the essence of Malaysia's culinary culture right to your plate. Our team of dedicated chefs hails from prestigious 5-star hotels, amassing over 7 years of expertise.
Every ingredient we use is sourced directly from Malaysia, allowing you to savor the authentic flavors of Malaysia's gastronomic delights without leaving town. Our menu spans the diverse regions of Malaysia, each dish reflecting the unique tastes of its origin.

Please note that our commitment to freshness and quality means that dishes are prepared upon order. As a result, cooking times, especially for our delectable grilled offerings, might be slightly longer. We appreciate your understanding as we ensure every dish is a true masterpiece. Thank you for considering us for your culinary journey. "

The mere introduction of their restaurant was enough to trigger a wave of nostalgia from my visit to Malaysia a decade ago.
