Image
While on my morning run, my attention was suddenly captured by a bird's swift movement as it emerged from the trees. It dropped a partially eaten, red spherical berry from its mouth. Upon closer inspection,  I realized it was an uneven, round berry. I stood there, gazing at the trees, attempting to identify the tree species.  Adorable little red fruit balls were evenly distributed among the lush green leaves on the branches. Soon, I noticed that these same trees lined the street for about 100 meters. I paused and immediately recalled, "This fruit is not unfamiliar to me.  I remember my mom bringing back a full bag from her hobby farm after spending a weekend reliving her childhood memories of rural life around this time of year. Inside the bag, it was filled with red balls resembling swollen nipples. The taste was akin to eating wild berries soaked in abundant water. My mom called it  "꾸지뽕" (Ggujippong) . One thing I needed help with was  Remembering the names of Malaysian dishes was a bit tricky for me. But I can still picture their simple yet delicious meals. One dish they recommended, "Nasi Lemak," stood out. It's a mix of coconut rice, spicy sambal sauce, peanuts, fresh veggies, and sweetened anchovies all beautifully arranged side by side.   Over time, Korea has developed its own varieties of locally produced bread. For example, during the colonial period, they made sweet bean paste-filled bread called 단팥방 ( Danpat -ppang). But Korea didn't stop there – they kept improving their baking skills. Today, Korea offers a wide range of bread that appeals to people of all ages, both within and internationally.  Local bakeries provide options like unsweetened and yeast bread and sweeter and fluffier choices to satisfy dessert cravings.
