Recognizing our enviornmental responsibility _Global Warming _Climate changes
Global warming and Climate change has become a pressing issue worldwide, and natural disasters increasingly impact the planet. The uncontrolled accumulation of garbage poses a significant challenge. As individuals, we can contribute by recycling, reducing consumption, and minimizing plastic waste. Continuous carbon dioxide emissions lead to the destruction of the ozone layer, posing a threat to humanity and the environment.
I realized the significant amount of waste I generate after examining my own consumption habits. On average, I produce 10 litres of garbage, a bag full of plastic water bottles, and 5 litres of food waste each week, despite my efforts to minimize them. This realization shook me. Considering that every individual generates similar amounts of waste throughout their lifetime simultaneously. it's unsurprising how nature is responding in recent times. The planet has been incredibly generous to us but is now showing anger.
In Korea, coffee is one of the most consumed products and has become an integral part of people's lives. They cannot imagine starting their day without a cup of fresh coffee. However, the issue lies in that most people drink from one-time-use disposable plastic cups, which are often large in size and filled to the brim with coffee. Customers handle these cups with care, walking to their workplace with a sense of relief, hoping to add some zest to their somewhat sluggish morning routine.
Disposable plastic cups have become an accepted and widely practised habit in Korea, but unfortunately, many people are unaware of the environmental consequences. They seem to be oblivious to the problem at hand.
While I am specifically focusing on coffee plastic cups here, it is essential to note that if we consider other forms of disposable plastic, the problem will continue to persist.
According to the Consumer Research Institute, the average person in Korea uses more than 65 one-time-serve plastic cups each year. Additionally, the country ranks third in the world per capita domestic plastic waste emissions.
This situation calls for increased awareness and action. It is crucial to address the use of disposable plastic cups and promote alternative options to reduce plastic waste.
Since freshly brewed coffee is amazing, and every coffee shop entices us with its unique aroma and reasonable prices, it also raises our awareness of the need to minimize the use of plastic cups. As individuals, what can we do in response?
Benefits of Using Tumblers:
Using a tumbler is the ideal solution unless you are obsessed with collecting various shapes and sizes of tumblers from around the world.
Here are the benefits:
Versatility: Tumblers have multiple uses and can be used repeatedly.
Reduction in plastic cup usage: Using a tumbler can help reduce the average usage of 65 plastic cups per person each year.
Environmental impact: Tumblers prevent the frequent disposal of plastic cups, which often end up in landfills and oceans, contributing to environmental pollution.
Recyclable materials: Tumblers are commonly made from materials like stainless steel, glass, or durable plastics, which can be recycled at the end of their lifecycle.
Furthermore, using a tumbler can lead to additional benefits, such as discounts at significant coffee shops like Starbucks and Twosome Place. It's an excellent opportunity to accomplish multiple goals with a single action!
