Awakening the Wanderlust A Journey with an Inspiring Indian Couple

In early March 2023, we had the privilege of welcoming an extraordinary Indian couple to our clinic. Their visit marked a significant moment as they sought to confirm their pregnancy, having endured the heartbreak of a miscarriage just one year earlier, in September 2022. However, what truly set this couple apart was their unique background—they were entrepreneurs in the digital content industry, and their journey had taken them from India to South Korea.

In their relationship, it was evident that the mother played a prominent role as a leader, while her husband stood out for his nurturing and caring nature, providing unwavering support every step of the way. This dynamic was a testament to the strength of their partnership and the love that bound them together.

During their visits to our clinic, we conducted routine checks for the expectant mother. In total, they would be visiting us around 9 to 10 times before the due date. This included 5 visits for various blood tests and 2 major ultrasound examinations (the NT scan and Level 2 scan), and the remaining visits were for monitoring the baby's growth.

Throughout this process, I accompanied them to the doctor's room and was deeply impressed by their unwavering commitment to following medical advice and respecting our guidance. They actively engaged with the doctor, asking insightful questions that prompted us to rethink our routines and approaches.

As their baby boy was born on September 20th, following their carefully planned Hindu beliefs, the new parents embarked on a journey of parenthood. However, this transformative period left them feeling fragile and needing time to adjust to their new roles.

During our conversations, as we shared our experiences and hopes for the future, they sensed my deep fondness for the memories of my previous trip to Trivandrum, India. It was during these exchanges that they kindly suggested I explore more of South India. This not only gave me hope but also reassured me about the possibility of safe solo travel as a woman in India, reminding me of the diverse and welcoming nature of this vast country.

It's worth noting that, despite the prevailing narrative of India being a dangerous country to travel for women alone, people often overlook the vastness and diversity of this nation. The mother offered invaluable insights, encouraging me to consider travelling to the South.

Until then, I had mainly associated India with Mumbai and Delhi, etc., primarily focusing on the northern part of the country. However, her mention of the South as a safe place to travel for solo travellers prompted me to research potential accommodations and travel destinations in Tamil Nadu, a province consisting of 8 regions, including Trivandrum, which had been a favourite city during my earlier visits.

The reason I find myself yearning to revisit my favourite region after such a long time is all thanks to the friendship of this beautiful Indian couple. They have reminded me of the transformative power of travel, of the connections we forge with others along the way, and of the boundless beauty that awaits those who dare to explore. Their presence in my life has rekindled my passion for the road less travelled, and I invite you to join me in believing that India, in all its splendour, is a journey waiting to be embraced, cherished, and explored. Until then, may your dreams of travel be as boundless as the horizons that stretch across this incredible nation.
