Bukhan River Bike Path Adventure

While taking a stroll or biking along the Bukhan River, you can appreciate the stunning scenery on a designated bike path with clear directional markings. Cyclists can ride at their own pace without obstruction or causing any disturbance to pedestrians.

I decided to walk on a roughly 10 km journey from Paldang Station to Ungilsan Station on one of my days off.

I spontaneously boarded a bus heading towards Paldang Station on the Central line. Paldang Station is situated near the Paldang Dam, and beyond the dam, there's a natural reservoir that extends all the way to the Ulgilsan St area and beyond.

The map indicates approximately 9.~ km to reach Ulgilsan, so I walked along the river and through the mountains tunnel towards Ulgilsan Station, my final destination.

About five years ago, I resided at Deockso Station, two stops behind Paldang.

I purchased an affordable bike for riding on this man-made path, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I rode almost every day, spending 4 to 5 hours cycling. This path is wide and accommodating, featuring three lanes for travel and walking, allowing both cyclists and pedestrians to traverse it easily.

Occasionally, I'd pause to rest in the midst of the forest, where there were neither people nor cars. I was surrounded solely by the sounds of birds, the wind, the flowing water, and rustling plants. Escaping the city noise, I experienced utter peace and serenity.

During my ride in the early summer season. I'd come across rare strawberry farms where owners sold their own products, such as fresh strawberries and freshly prepared strawberry shakes or juice.

The surroundings were so tranquil that I'd discover a spot to sit and even nap beside the river if only for 30 minutes, finding solace in the midst of nature. The experience was so relaxing that it rejuvenated my body and mind.

On the map, the path between Paldang Station and Ulgilsan Station spans almost 10 kilometres. The journey may appear lengthy, but with every step, you encounter a variety of natural scenery. Random riverside cafes overlooking the water offer a peaceful place to pause and take a break.

If there's one season of the year, the changing colours of autumn, that beckons you to escape from the bustling city life yet not wander too far, I'd wholeheartedly recommend treating yourself to a day of cycling alongside the Bukhan riverside.
