Image

Beyond the Cocoon, A Reflection on Childhood, Community, and the Flight of the Butterfly

Image
" - A Butterfly flew outside   This sentence holds a special place in my heart because it was the first script I ever spoke on stage at 7 during an annual kindergarten group storytelling performance. The memory of being on stage with my mates and many families in front is engraved in my mind with indelible ink of excitement, pride, and happiness. I felt like a butterfly taking flight into an unknown world. As I reminisce about my childhood in an apartment, I am struck by a harsh reality. It is a revelation about the growing indifference among neighbours. The simple act of exchanging greetings fades away, replaced by the routine entrance into one's shelter without giving a single glimpse to each other. What was once a shared space, a community, gradually succumbs to metaphorical walls. Indifference has become a virtue in today's landscape dominated by individualistic living and personal studio apartments, commonly known as "Officetel" (office ...

Introducing Kiriyama Japanese Udon restaurant nestled in the vibrant neighbourhoods of Gangnam and Jamsil in Seoul. Over the years, it has captured the hearts of many with its warm and rich udon dishes, starting when it opened its doors in the Gangnam area. Whenever people yearn for authentic Japanese food and the comforting warmth of udon noodles with broth, Kiriyama has been their reliable choice. After achieving initial success, the owner of Kiriyama, Mr Shin SangMok, decided to share the unique flavour with more people by opening a second branch on the top floor of the Lotte Department Store in Jamsil. This November marks the first anniversary since the opening of the new branch, celebrating the hard work put in by all involved. [통인시장]Tongin Market- Where Tradition Meets the Flavor of a Touristic Adventure

Image
The Tongin Traditional Open Market, situated near Gyongbokung Palace, is renowned for its stir-fried spicy Ttokbokki and lunch boxes that can be purchased using traditional Korean coins. Established in 1941, Tongin Market originally functioned as an open market with few shops, but the aftermath of the Korean War spurred a rapid increase in population, leading to the organic development of shops. Stretching over approximately 300 meters, the market is home to around 75 stores. One unique aspect of this market is the opportunity to buy small portions of various Korean dishes using traditional coins. This allows visitors to experience a diverse range of Korean cuisine, which is feasible to enjoy without spending too much money or indulging excessively. The food items can be neatly fit into lunch boxes, which come in handy for those who wish to sample multiple dishes. This innovative purchasing method benefits tourists and vendors, contributing to the thriving economy of Tongin. Additional...

When autumn and winter season arrives at  Seokchon Lake, the entire area comes alive with captivating annual events, offering beauty and excitement for the public to enjoy. Visiting Seokchon Lake has always been a privilege, especially during the festival. The lake is a delightful place for leisurely strolls. With the festival, the lake transforms into a realm of wonders, promising precious memories and splendid photo opportunities. I'd like to share the myriad of events that provide relief for those who endure busy days in the office, offering a refreshing escape from their daily tasks as the day winds down. The Luminaria Festival at Seokchon Lake is a must-see as the evening sets around 6 p.m.   This year, collaborating with the globally acclaimed jewellery brand Vlgari, the iconic Serpenti light graces Seokchon Lake's East Lake, bestowing a touch of mystical radiance upon the Luminaria Festival. Commencing at the main Luminarie Gate at Seokchon Lake's entrance, you'l...
