Established in 1941, Tongin Market originally functioned as an open market with few shops, but the aftermath of the Korean War spurred a rapid increase in population, leading to the organic development of shops. Stretching over approximately 300 meters, the market is home to around 75 stores.

One unique aspect of this market is the opportunity to buy small portions of various Korean dishes using traditional coins. This allows visitors to experience a diverse range of Korean cuisine, which is feasible to enjoy without spending too much money or indulging excessively. One Yeopjeon is equivalent to 500 KRW, and typically, you can obtain 10 Yeopjeon in each bundle. With 10,000 KRW worth of Yeopjeons, you can have 3 to 4 different types of small Korean dishes, making it a fantastic way to explore the local street food. 

Tongin Market opens its doors throughout the week, from 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM. For the best experience, it's recommended to visit around 10 AM when most shops are open and ready to serve delicious meals.
